1. How long have you been designing bags?

Ive been designing and making bags since 2005! But Ive been sewing and making things ever since I can remember!

2. How would you describe you personal style?

I dont think my personal style fits into one box so I would definitely say I have an ecletic taste in fashion. I love a little bit of alot of styles. Sometimes I like really edgy and funky pieces, sometimes I like to rock the ruffly, pretty and danty look, sometimes I like mixing and matching patterns and textures....so my personal style is all over! It just depends on how I feel for the day!

3. Where do you get the inspiration from to design your handbags?

I let the fabrics inspire me! When I go to fabric stores, Im in heaven! I look around to see what really jumps out and grabs me and from there, I get inspiration on how to make a particular bag.

4. How does Nneka Saran Handbags stand out compared to other handbags?

I believe the different fabrics and texture combinations I use really help my bags to stand out. Alot of my customers tell me they get tons of compliments when they wear one of my bags because of that very reason. Also, each of my bags come with a note of inspiration which was important to me to do because faith plays a major role in me continuing to pursue this dream!

5. What would your five year plan be for Nneka Saran Handbags?

Currently, I make most of the bags myself and get a few manufactured. In the next five years, I plan to go into full production with my entire line which will include clutches, wallets, shoulder bags, and funky diaper bags. I also plan to have reps around the country selling my bags for me as well.

6. What are some different types of fabrics and colors do you like to experiment with ?

I like to experiment with bold prints and patterns, bright colors, and different textures. I use everything from silk to cotton to various types of leather. I also love to play around with different hardware on the bags.

7. What can we expect for your upcoming collection?

In my upcoming collection, you can expect my signature oversized clutches as well as hobos in bright colors, funky prints and leathers. I also plan to incorporate diaper bags into my line in 2009
