Heads Will Roll

I've been obsessed with this song ever since I heard it on MTV for "The City" promo. See no lies here. I am not proud to say I discovered this song because of MTV cause I like discovering music on my own, but hey it is what it is! And you can't lie, nowadays MTV has some great music selection! Anyways, enjoy his amazing, intense, artistic video. The song has such an electronic and dark feel to it. It makes me feel like I'm in a trance, coked up, dancing on a table, with people all over me licking me (kind of like Britney Spears' "Slave For You" but a drugged up version). But see I'm not a druggie, but I guess that's what music does. It transports people to different worlds.

Heel Broke? NEVER AGAIN!

Do you tend to get your heels stuck in a crack when walking down the street? Do your heels tend to break? Do you hate the pitter patter you make when walking with your gorgeous pumps on? Well ladies, you're prayers have been answered!

The answer is heel-less shoes!

The idea of the heel-less shoe is not quite that new actually. The idea has been around for a while. It's been in the, let's say, experimentation stages. But of course, who else dare to really wear it? None other than Mrs. Bend It Like Beckham. The heel-less boots she wore were designed by Antonio Berardi about a year ago. It was first seen at his Paris show last year. (Guardian)

It also has shown up at Nina Ricci's Fall 2009 show.
So what do you guys think about the heel-less shoe? Honestly, I don't think it will ever make it out of the experimental stages. It is simply not appealing to the average consumer to wear a heel-less shoe. To me, most often the art and beauty of a shoe is its heel. It does not look comfortable, or wise to even stand in them for more than two minutes. Heels are already no good because of the pressure it puts on our feet and back, but heel-less shoes? Shoes that lack a heel which means ALL the pressure will be at the balls of your feet which means even MORE pressure on your feet and back? No thank you, I'll pass.

P.S. Oh yeah, there's something even MORE ridiculous than heel-less shoes. Check out frontless shoes, yeah shoes with just a heel and no front? Yeah huh? (Trendhunter)

Yeah, frontless shoes.
THIS SHOULD NEVER, EVER BE CREATED CAUSE SOME PEOPLE JUST NEED TO COVER THEIR FEET AT ALL TIMES!
I rather the heel-less shoe after seeing this, no?

These Lips Were Made For...

Besides a female's (ass)ets or bosom, I think that the favorite part of the female body, to a guy, would be her lips. From the way they shine, to the way the taste, to them being completely bare and kissable...Lips are the sh*t! I found some lips that looked so hot (pause) that I had to share. I love the art of the lipstick and how different colors and props were used in these photos. Although some of these lips wouldn't be ideal for just going out on a regular day, or even a date, it would be cool just to experiment or even have a little photo shoot.

I ♥ the heart, very creative!

*The pink lip gloss is so girl and innocent. It definitely says "I may look good but..."

*Can we say SMOKING! I mean literally. The smoke just adds a bad-a** attribute to the photo, and we all know a red lip is daring ;-)

*The ICE Princess lip is very daring and although I do necessarily think may people go for it, it would be an interesting look.

*Once again we see a bubblegum pink lip. This lip has a more glamorous side to it than the other, and that gloss is definitely poppin'!

*Last but not least we have a simple pink lip that is just about a shade and a half darker than naturally pink lips. This would be good if you just want to go for a subtle natural look.

*Then we have an olive lip. Which is a classic color and looks even more fabulous when you have a pearl in your mouth [lol].

Well there you have, go out and buy a new color lipstick/gloss today, it'll be funny and is a great way to accessorise an outfit!

Live life.

I'm influenced by many things. It depends on what I'm styling hair for. If it's a photoshoot, I get inspired by the clothing. If it's a video, I get inspired by the song, etc...

4. What advice or products would you tell women of color to use to maintain manageability and healthy hair?
I love the Pantene Relaxed and Natural breakage defense shampoo and conditioner. It's inexpensive and works wonderfully.

5. I am always changing the color of my hair, one week I am black, then blonde. What are some ways that I can change my color with out damaging my hair?
Using a semi-permanent color is the safest way to switch up your colors without damage. You can also try hair pieces or a wig for a different color.

I'm currently developing one as we speak...will keep you posted.

Style Icon- Billie Holiday

Lady Sings the Blues is one of my all time favorite movies. Billie Holiday's stage outfits are as legendary as her unique voice, and the infamous white gardenias that were gently pinned in her hair. Known for her poised and glamorous stage presence, wearing long glittering gowns, diamond earrings, and pearl necklaces to many of her performances. Updating her look a little but still remaining true to the romanticism and glamour of the era

NYFW Designer Review: Temperley London

Held in the MILK & MAC collaborated Studios (only for Fashion Week),Temperley London showcased their Spring/Summer 2010 collection, incorporating various elements from era's like the 20's & 30's with a touch of CirqueDu Soleil.
The theme exuded originality and unique characteristics with subtle yet feminine accents.Walking into the venue an array of upbeat selection of circus like arrangements played throughout the room. The mannequins were dressed in multitude of bold colors, shapes, patterns, and prints.
Within this collection Temperley London has given fashionistas a range of wearable styles to choose from combining detailed statement making garments with a touch of glamour, to every day pieces. The use of color in this collection is infectious raspberry, violet, fuchsia, and lemon yellow, of course with the traditional pieces in black and white. In person the garments are far more exquisite, wearable works of art.

Fashion Innovator : Marc by Marc Jacobs 2010

Fashion innovator Marc Jacobs has done it again! His Spring/Summer 2010 collection has many people wanting more. Plaids, Polka dots and other carefree prints were debuted at the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fashion Show. I love his use of a bold array of colors, and statement making patterns.

Fly Femme Interview : Ramlah Boadi from Steve Madden

Today's Fly Femme Ramlah Boadi is a hard working fashionista, with an infectious personality and a keen fashion sense. She knows that its not all about the name you wear but how you wear it, mastering the art of mixing high and low name brands. Not at all afraid to take risks....

1. How would you describe your personal style?

I love to mix high, low and vintage fashion and accessories to achieve an eclectic urban vintage look.

2. What sparked you love or interest in fashion?

I have always been in love with fashion because I always felt that fashion does not always mean that, you have to wear what the others wear. It’s about thinking, I will make the world wear what I wear? The world is your runway so put an imprint on it.

3. What are some of your plans professionally for the rest 09'?

With God’s strength and endurance, I would love to get more into fashion show production, celebrity PR, and events….maybe styling. Sky’s the limit for me

4. What makes you a Fly Femme ?

I am a risk-taker, being able not to conform to the rules and doing it with class.

simply ADORABLE.

Kids’ wear has come such a long way in the last 5-8 years. Once upon a time, it was hand-me-downs from your older brothers and sisters. These days, any brand worth its weight in fashion gold, will have a diffusion range of kids’ wear offering the same grown-up aesthetic for young fashionistas and their stylish parents.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s range is such an example. Kids’ wear is a competitive market, but with style running through the Parisian’s veins, JPG is spot on with the modern and age-appropriate collection. It’s got the right amount of fashionability, bold shapes and distinct tailoring of JPG’s adult range but with a sense of fun and wearability more suited to kids.
