Winter Relief for dry skin

Hi Dolls, I know I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus, but I've been hella busy of course with good things. So winter skin can sometimes be a b*tch. Here are some tips to hydrate your skin getting and ridding your self of dry, chapped skin for the rest of the winter months

1. Mix in a body oil with you moisturizer -
Double the moisture, oils rapidly hydrate the skin try Mango Melange Bath and Body Oil. This duo will leave your skin feeling sliky smooth and less like Tyrone Bigums in minutes.
2. Exfoliate skin and face every 2 weeks--
The harsh winter weather dulls your complexion completely depleting that summer glow. A good exfoliator rejuvenates
the skin bringing back a bright and radiant complexion. For your body try Aromatherapy- Sugar Body Scrub in Tranquil Mint. Also a good way to end the night. For your face try Korres- Thyme Honey Scrub I love this soft creamy scrub its gentle with aloe and wheat germ oil it soothes the skin while protecting it.

3. Mother Knows best --
When all else fails two things my mother always has handy is Aquaphor and Vaseline slather either over your knees, elbows, heels, and hand even you face my mother uses vaseline and places a hot towel over her face to remove all the dirt and make up from her face and she has the best skin and complexion.

Movie Soundtracks

Of course everyone has their own opinion of what the greatest movie soundtracks are. It all depends on what kind of music you like really. You're probably wondering why all the posts about soundtracks (more coming)? Well, first off, I love movies. Second, a movie is nada without the soundtrack. The soundtrack is the emotion, the feeling, the meaning behind the words and scenes. The soundtrack tells you what to feel. And third, soundtracks are just effing great. So here's some of my favorite movie soundtracks. Make sure to comment and let me know if you feel like I left out any, which I probably am going to, I haven't seen every freaking movie, even though I would like to.

Greatest Movie Soundtracks (Not in any particular order)

Juno
Paper Heart
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
A Clockwork Orange
500 Days of Summer
Breathless (A Bout de Souffle)
The Notebook
Dazed and Confused
Sex and the City
Garden State
Titanic
Beauty and the Beast (YUP)
Grease
Almost Famous
Soul Food
Where the Wild Things Are
Love Actually
Waiting to Exhale
August Rush
Bad Boys 2

What do ya think?
(This is just part 1, when my brain decides to function again, I'll post part 2.)

Have you ever took the time to wonder what songs describe your life? Like a soundtrack to your life? Well I have. And it has to be the most freaking, hardest thing, like ever. Like what the freak? First off my soundtrack would have like 5,645 discs. And that describes one part of me: my indecisiveness. So here's a glimpse of a couple songs that I think would make my soundtrack. And let's just say this is my first draft, mostly consisting of songs I just love, and songs that when you hear them, hopefully remind you of me! Yay! Now, I have a challenge for you, how about you create your own soundtrack and see how freaking hard it is!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Femme Royale would like to wish everyone a belated but Happy New Year! Yay! Don't fear, we have not abandoned you. We have been hard at work preparing for what will be a very successful year, as you should to! Don't let the "mistakes" from 2009 hinder your growth in 2010. If anything those "mistakes" should encourage and promote your growth. I put "mistakes" in quotations only because I believe you should not see them as mistakes but as lessons. So get ready ladies and gentlemen, Femme Royale is going to take you on a journey. And trust me, you won't want to look back.

Bag a Hipster!

So as I'm doing my bi-weekly (yep, it went from daily to bi-weekly, sometimes monthly. sad eh?) reading of blogs and what not, I come across a guide on how "to bag a hipster." I just wanted to share it with my FemmeRoyale gals and guys, cause you know, we just can't get enough of hipsters, the real ones though. Not the ones who only know of Urban Outfitters, buy a button down and some skinny jeans, and go to Moomia and think that all of a sudden they're a "hipster". Haha. No subliminals. Now let's make a deal. Obey the guide. Follow the steps and let us know it worked or not or if it made you look like a bafoon. Doesn't really matter what the result was, all that matters is that you actually tried right? Right. So pleasee try it! I will personally send you a gift in the mail, you little bafoon you :)

"It can happen to you: you’re out, drinking a PBR, minding your own… then you see that dirty and doe-eyed darling across the room, judging the party-thrower’s record collection. And you. Want. Them. Bad. Read on! To turn that lust in your heart into action in your pants.

STEP 1: Picking Your Prey.
If you’re into dudes, check for flannel, traditional wool ponchos from South America, and bike chains worn like a beauty pageant sash. That guy’s sensitive, and he lives close enough to bike.
Dig the ladies? Look for a bit of vanity among the Snoopy sweaters and grandma pants– a bustier or crop top means the apple of your eye embraces the ugly-is-hot ethos, but still wants to maintain the hot.

STEP 2: Dancing.
Kick Gloria Estefan to the curb. The rhythm can’t get you! Jerk your head like you’re getting whiplash, over and over. Stomp one bent foot, and let your middle try and figure out the rest. If your parter mirrors your moves, congratulations: you’re doing the hipster mating dance.

STEP 3: Let’s-Get-A-Drink-Conversation.
Order the worst whiskey. Then talk about your “passion,” like group sound massage, or found art sculpture. Ask if they’ve ever seen Bertrando: Story of An Algae Born Whistler. This film does not exist. If they say they’ve seen it, they want to bone you. If they say no, shame them. Shame = hipster pheromones.

STEP 4: Neuroses.
Share one. For example: “Sometimes I am so porous I feel all of the emotions of the room at once.” “I am incredibly rich, but will never do anything about it except feel guilty and wear dirty clothes.” “Sex makes me cry, because I hate intimacy, yet all I want is love.”
They’ll tell you one of theirs. Nice bonding!

STEP 5: Going home.
At this point, you should be primed for the kill. Here is your weapon: “Parties just make me feel so empty; it was amazing to have a real conversation with you. I think we’re heading out in the same direction– would you mind stopping at my place quickly? I’d really love to lend you, “How to Keep Your Dog A Liberal Vegan In A Conservative, Carnivorous World.”
Get ready for a night of almost-dextrous, totally self-conscious lovemaking!

P.S. Feel like you want some hipster camo before you go on the prowl? Throw on the Matty Top, to look fly and well-flanneled while stalking your desired."

I love Christmas Time in NYC

I love christmas time especially Christmas time in the city, I think it's the best time of the year. There's so much to do and see in NYC this time of year, Ice skating in Bryant Park, the lighting of the Christmas tree not to mention the Uber fab window displays. The department store displays on 5th avenue are A-mazing. I didn't have my camera to with me as I walked up and down 5th Ave, but I did find amazing pictures from an amazing website called anothernormal.com.

Maybe I will go back and take pictures with my camera on friday. Here are a couple pictures from the Bergdorf Goodman window display I love there use of texture and color its so vibrant and amazing.

Beauty Post - Carol's Daughter Almond Cookie Sea Salt Scrub

So we haven't done a beauty post in a while :) sorry for the inconsistency I have been trying to settle in to a new schedule with my new job and just prepping for the holiday's :)

So tonight I tried Carol's Daughter Almond Cookie Sea Salt and I must say I truly fell in love with the product. Since its starting to get cold ( if you live in NY you know how fickle the weather is) my skin has been extremely dry, and I have been looking for something to remove dead skin. Just to give my self a healthy glow. I knew I didn't want something that was extremely harsh or contained many chemicals since I have very sensitive skin.

After I used the body scrub I immediately felt the difference in my skin it feels smoother, and looks much healthier not dry, dull or rough at all. The scent is soft and subtle not at all overwhelming.

I am thinking about the Almond Cookie Collection as a present for my mom for Christmas or maybe even myself. If I do get it I'll let you know if its worth the $$.
