Dear Summer,

So we all know summer is basically coming to an end, but I don't like to think the cup is half empty, I like to think the cup is half full. THEREFORE, what I am saying is, enjoy what's left of summer! No money, no prob! There are lots of free things to do here in NYC, there are no excuses people! And if you don't live here, I suggest you move immediately! Yeah, I said it. You know you want to anyways. So who likes freebies? EVERYONE DOES!

August 10th, the film The Magnificent Seven will be playing on the Lawn at Bryant Park, 5pm.
August 12, the Kazakhstan film Tulpan will be playing at the Socrates Sculpture Park (in Queens) and it begins at sunset.
August 12, Pier 54 presents RiverFlicks for Grown Ups. Sex and the City will be playing at Pier 54. It begins generally around dusk, like 8:30pm. Free popcorn!
August 13, Blondie x Pat Benatar x The Donnas (Basically a kick ass girls' night out) at Asser Levy Park in Coney Island, 7:30pm.
August 14, Pier 54 also presents RiverFlicks for Kids. Madagascar: Escape to Africa will be shown at Pier 54, around 8:30pm. Free popcorn again!
August 16, a screening of School Daze at Habana Outpost (757 Fulton Street at South Portland Ave.), 8pm.
August 17, the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind will be playing on the Lawn at Bryant Park, 5pm.
August 18, Regina Spektor will play at the Union Square Barnes & Noble.
August 18-22, Central Park will also be doing free screenings of your favorite films folks in the Rumsey Playfield. 8pm and the gates open at 6pm, which means get there by 5pm.

  • Wednesday, August 19 - Shaft
  • Thursday, August 20 - Ocean's 11
  • Friday, August 21 - Twilight
  • Saturday, August 22 - vote at http://www.7online.com/. The options are Men In Black, Goldfinger, and Desperately Seeking Susan. These outdoor movie screenings are great date ideas. So take your boo! Or your future boo!
August 19, the Italian film Gomorrah will be playing at the Socrates Sculpture Park, beginning at sunset.
August 19, Pier 54 will be showing a screening of Pineapple Express!
August 21, Curious George will be shown at Pier 54, around 8:30pm. You know the dealio.
August 23, a screening of Purple Rain at Habana Outpost, 8pm.
From now-August 28, enjoy some free Jazz music at the Jazzmobile, Inc. (154 West 127th Street)
August 30, See No Evil, Hear No Evil will be playing at Habana Outpost, 8pm.
